Casting Off

Casting Off

0700 hours came late for us.  Turns out we all awoke before our alarms went off from the excitement of the trip.  When Debra and I arrived, Kelley was already there putting away.  Jason and the girls had done a wonderful job of final prep.  The Sun was just rising with golden rays.

Made for wonderful light.   Shanda snapped a quick picture of the team.  You can't see it, but I am pulling Kelley in close-wanted to make sure Jason felt comfortable.

After lots of hugs and sighs, we bid farewell.

We were reminded in Springtown of the value of this trip.

Winding around Weatherford we made it onto the Highway.  It was slightly less an experience related to driving and more nautical in nature.  Jason was holding 15degrees rudder to port to fight the 25mph South wind.  When the trucks would pass, it was a two-handed task to keep on the straight and narrow.

At about 11:00am we got a text and email from our Elders, inviting us to evening fellowship.  What a joy to hear and receive the invitation.  Later, Mark called and wished us well.  Within 30 minutes or so Jason stopped for a bio-break/Coffee training.  Had to explain the Aero-coffee maker method.  For the stop, we pulled over at a dreadful and desolate rest stop just West of Stanton.

While we were stopped, Jason broke out the ribs.  I got in line for the microwave.  A quick 30 seconds on pizza setting and these were GREAT.

Back on the road now.  Rod is in the navigator's position Kelley is in the crowsnest Jason is recounting a the trials of Calvinist believing youth-pastor..  All good and such a joy.  For me-I will be converting these ribs to bones.

Love from us all to each one.
